Your message, |

WELCOME TO THE FUN SIDE — GOOD CHOICE.

Your message, driving real results.

Fearon Communications helps small businesses and non-profits say what they mean — clearly, confidently, and in a voice that actually sounds like them. No boardroom memo vibes. I promise.

*The call is free. The results are not. (That’s how business works.)

// the human behind all this

Jay Fearon

• DIRECTOR OF EVERYTHING •

Voted ‘Most Likely to Become an American Gladiator.’ Did not.

Lives in Oshawa with his wife, 3 kids, and 2 cats who are definitely in charge.

Named his electric VW “the Voltswagen.” Zero regrets.

15+ years turning rambling ideas into punchy communications — including years of fundraising writing for non-profits.

The dad jokes are free. The strategy is what you’re paying for.

🕶️ About Jay (yes, he's a real person)

Hi. Jay here. Director of Everything. Back in high school, they voted me "Most Likely to Become an American Gladiator." Spoiler: I didn't. Instead of flexing in spandex, I flex my weirdly specific talent for turning rambling ideas into clear, punchy communications that actually work.

When I'm not helping clients battle mediocre messaging, you'll find me:

  • Grilling something delicious
  • Deep-diving into internet rabbit holes (for "research", obviously)
  • Washing the Voltswagen (my electric VW — yes, I named it)
🏢 About Fearon Communications (spoiler: small and proud)

Fearon Communications is the opposite of a giant agency. No endless meetings, no layers of approvals, no "we'll circle back" nonsense.

It's just me — small team, big attention. I specialize in strategy, copy, crisis communications, and whatever else it takes to help small businesses and non-profits sound like themselves — only better.

🏆 The serious credentials (they exist, I swear)

15+ years in communications and strategy. Clients ranging from brand-new non-profits to established professional service firms — across Canada. Squarespace Circle Member (their way of saying "this guy knows what he's doing").

Now, full transparency: I can take a decent photo. Not a great one. I can't design logos. Video shooting and editing continue to stymy me in ways that feel personal. BUT — I know a lot of extraordinarily talented people. Award-winning photographers. Inspiring videographers. Probably the best graphic designer you'll ever meet. E-commerce and payment processing experts. Fundraising fiends. Programmers. Musicians. Whatever the project needs, I tap my patented NORGPTKWYWOAP™: the Network of Ridiculously Good People To Know When You're Working On A Project™ and find the very best fit, whether that means coming on board, or just giving us some well-timed pointers.

ABOUT JAY

Small agency.
Huge attention.

(yes, he’s a real person)

Fearon Communications is the opposite of a giant agency. No endless meetings, no layers of approvals, no “we’ll circle back” nonsense. It’s just me—and that’s the whole point.

I get to know you, your goals, and the actual headaches you’re dealing with. Then I build a plan (and write the words) that fit like they were made for you. (Because they basically are.)

Whether it’s figuring out the big-picture strategy, fundraising copy that actually moves donors, or just sitting down and writing words that make people care, reply, donate, or buy — I’m your guy.

Your project gets treated like it’s the most important thing on my desk. Because when we’re working together, it is.

WHAT I ACTUALLY DO

How I can help you
without boring everyone to tears.

I can build a mean website (or a nice one. Your call.) I can out-wordsmith Mr. Smith himself. I can strategize with the best strategizers. Here’s how I can help you.

✍️
Content + Copywriting Because "Blah Blah Business" isn't cutting it

Words tell stories. The right words? They change stories. (And occasionally make people snort-laugh. Bonus.)

You know exactly what you want to say… until you try to say it and suddenly everyone looks like they're watching paint dry. I can fix that.

I dive into your world — your industry, what people are saying about you, what makes you different — and then we talk. Really talk. From there I write drafts, we tweak (not twerk — promise), and keep going until every word is pulling its weight: getting people to call, donate, buy, or at least smile and think "hey, these folks get it."

Fundraising Writing The one that makes donors actually open their wallets

Here's the thing about fundraising copy: it's not about asking for money. It's about making someone feel that giving is the obvious, satisfying, right thing to do. That requires a specific kind of writing — one that leads with impact, builds emotional connection, and makes the ask feel like an invitation rather than a shakedown.

I've spent years writing fundraising copy in-house and for clients. Annual fund appeals. Major gift campaign documents. Stewardship and impact reports. Stakeholder engagement materials. The stuff that keeps donors giving and brings lapsed ones back.

Good fundraising copy doesn't sound like fundraising writing. It sounds like a conversation between your organization and someone who genuinely cares about what you're doing.

Communications Strategy + Consulting The big-picture stuff, minus the buzzwords

Sometimes you need someone from the outside to look at your mess (I mean your masterpiece) and say "okay , here's a smarter way forward." That's me.

I zoom out: your goals, your audience, what people currently think about you, and how to get your message in front of the right humans without screaming into the void. When things go sideways — PR headache, rogue email, cash crunch, data oops — I jump in fast with a cool head and a plan. We craft the response, manage the perception, and get through it. Deep breaths. We've got this.

And when the project needs more than words, I scout and set up tools that actually fit: CRMs, donation platforms, ticketing software, payment processing. No wrestling with tech that hates you. And if we need extra talent — photographers, designers, video wizards, fundraising ninjas — I tap my patented NORGPTKWYWOAP™ — the Network of Ridiculously Good People To Know When You're Working On A Project™.

Helped launch a new speech-language pathology practice with friendly branding, solid copy, and behind-the-scenes ops so families feel welcomed instead of overwhelmed from minute one.

Matrix Bailiff Services

Dug deep into the bailiff world, interviewed like crazy, and wrote copy that makes them stand out as the clear, trustworthy pick in a field that's… not always the most glamorous.

Hedberg & Associates

Gave them a modern website glow-up and sharp copy to match their expertise during a big market relaunch — because "dated site" and "top-tier pros" really don't mix.

LET’S ACTUALLY TALK

Let’s stop talking
about talking.

If you’re thinking “okay, this Jay guy might not be completely unhinged, and I actually need help getting my message out there” — then hi. I’m ready when you are. Whether it’s a strategy, words that don’t suck, a fast website, or just figuring out what you need — drop me a line. No judgement, and no endless forms.

I reply fast…sometimes at weird hours.

// response time

Usually same day — often faster.

// location

Based in Oshawa, Ontario
Available wherever there’s internet.

// how it works

We talk for 15 minutes. You tell me what you’re trying to do. I tell you whether — and how — I can help. That’s it. No pitch deck, no sales funnel, no follow-up sequence. Just a conversation.
